In the realm of visual search tools and idea collection, the Pinterest Site stands shoulders above the rest.Images submitted by users are categorized a spins and arranged into boards. This board can be described a visual notebook of sorts. These pins can be can repinned by the boards followers or by general users(the pins are listed in a general data feed by category as well ) If so desired, items collected in the boards can be shared with other social media outlets. Most content that’s gets collected is not unique to Pinterest but rather aggregated from various sources around the web. However I find it to be great alternative to standard web browsing with text. The searching becomes more immersive and in most cases more interesting.I believe future search engines may imbue some of the attributes of Pinterest.Overall its well done and a great addition the social media ecosystem.
As par usual, the fall of 2014 promises new releases from varied smart phone/device companies. In recent years many other contenders have entered the fold all seeking to capture or recapture the hearts & minds of tech consumer. Apple, one of the initial players on this forefront had been seen as trading innovation for maintaining comfortable and minor gains in its products.Small upgrades here and there pretty much. However if rumors be true, the proverbial eggs are about to be broken to make that omelette.Again.
The iphone 6 is reported to have a 4.7 and 5.5 inch screen, sapphire display and a host of other rumored next generation functions. Im sure this will be a welcome addition as the phablet trend continues to pick up steam. Also it can be difficult to play Clash of Clans on a 4 inch screen.Who wants to squint? The I Watch, also slated for release,is diving into wearables as well as apple wallet and apple home automation giving us a glance into the Internet Of Everything ecosystem being laid down.Tablet and macbook upgrades also bringing up the rear and integrating into entire process.Seems to be a lot going on this fall.Time to get those blankets and chairs ready;the line will be around the block.
With digital privacy being a phrase on everyone’s lips, being anonymous in an age of hyper-connectivity seems to be an effort almost in vain.By 2020 billions of connected smart devices will create personal mesh networks bringing in this Internet of Things.Always augmented-always on.24/7 stream of data or big data as they say.We will have to establish our digital comfort zone and seek balance in regards to privacy.Keeping our footprint to a manageable level will be imperative.
In the many exploding genres of expotentially developing technology, wearable computing will become the next iteration of the user interface.Next generation materials will over time allow the molding and integration of the touch display to ourselves. The gap between human and machine growing incrementally smaller. Even though we are in the Wright Brothers stage of things, this fall should see the first flight of smartwatch devices.Apple,Google,Microsoft,Samsung and a Kickstarter/Indigogo startups will be the initial players.
I am excited. The Internet of Things slowly becomes a reality.Paradigm Shift.
