For many decades, the subject of Post Humanity was one of the hypothetical, science fiction, what if scenerio’s.
However recent advancements in technology has now brought the conversation into the realm of tangibility. The premise of Transhumanism is basically upgrading the human condition thru the application of available technologies.Very advanced technologies mind you, something in existence perhaps a decade from now when Artificial Intelligence,Biotech and Nanotechnologies reign supreme. This expotential increase in speed and knowledge leading to an event coined by futurist Ray Kurzweil as THE SINGULARITY.(This event simply being a rate of change so fast and profound it changes humanity forever. Its intelligent effects expanding outward into the universe at light speed)
What does this all mean? Not sure but we will most certainly have a plethora of options.I also believe this new paradigm of technology will progress to the point where it becomes almost a spiritual science. The unseen and seen merging together in into a seamless stream of intelligent consciousness.Again my own late night theories running amuck. However these type ideas are beginning to enter into the national conversation.Stay tuned.
Next blog will explore faith and religion vs transhumanist ideals.
In the realm of visual search tools and idea collection, the Pinterest Site stands shoulders above the rest.Images submitted by users are categorized a spins and arranged into boards. This board can be described a visual notebook of sorts. These pins can be can repinned by the boards followers or by general users(the pins are listed in a general data feed by category as well ) If so desired, items collected in the boards can be shared with other social media outlets. Most content that’s gets collected is not unique to Pinterest but rather aggregated from various sources around the web. However I find it to be great alternative to standard web browsing with text. The searching becomes more immersive and in most cases more interesting.I believe future search engines may imbue some of the attributes of Pinterest.Overall its well done and a great addition the social media ecosystem.
As par usual, the fall of 2014 promises new releases from varied smart phone/device companies. In recent years many other contenders have entered the fold all seeking to capture or recapture the hearts & minds of tech consumer. Apple, one of the initial players on this forefront had been seen as trading innovation for maintaining comfortable and minor gains in its products.Small upgrades here and there pretty much. However if rumors be true, the proverbial eggs are about to be broken to make that omelette.Again.
The iphone 6 is reported to have a 4.7 and 5.5 inch screen, sapphire display and a host of other rumored next generation functions. Im sure this will be a welcome addition as the phablet trend continues to pick up steam. Also it can be difficult to play Clash of Clans on a 4 inch screen.Who wants to squint? The I Watch, also slated for release,is diving into wearables as well as apple wallet and apple home automation giving us a glance into the Internet Of Everything ecosystem being laid down.Tablet and macbook upgrades also bringing up the rear and integrating into entire process.Seems to be a lot going on this fall.Time to get those blankets and chairs ready;the line will be around the block.
Autonomous systems,Artificial intelligence,Cognizant computing, many names, new ideas. One of numerous emerging genres of technology that will continue to alter the landscape over the next decade. The onset of this new trend however have not been without feelings of trepidation. Many still remember the trilogy of Terminator movies. An ominious warning of the result of hyper advanced technology left unsupervised and gone awry. This quasi phobia still persists unfortunatly,Arnold Swarzeneggers metallic face still etched into our memories. However this unfounded fear need not make us adversarial when it comes to robotics or artificial intelligence. I believe our experience will be one of mutual growth and a co-operation. Collective human intelligence will push the machines and they in turn will advance us. We will ascend new heights but together.Self driving cars, virtual assistants,Watson,D-wave,this is the early days as we lay the foundation. We will be better than we’ve ever been .
With digital privacy being a phrase on everyone’s lips, being anonymous in an age of hyper-connectivity seems to be an effort almost in vain.By 2020 billions of connected smart devices will create personal mesh networks bringing in this Internet of Things.Always augmented-always on.24/7 stream of data or big data as they say.We will have to establish our digital comfort zone and seek balance in regards to privacy.Keeping our footprint to a manageable level will be imperative.
As a branch of wearable computing, smartglasses are looking to be making their debut over the span of the next year.Commonly referred to as Augmented Reality, this visual user interface promises to place contextual information in your field of vision. As opposed to using standard LCD screens on laptops or touch devices. The benefits,in theory, would be a more integrated and richer experience. The internet no longer being some abstract space but rather a living entity interacting with everyday 3-d space.Enter Internet of Everything or Web 3.0 and all of its glory
Saddle up boys and girls, its gonna be a wild ride.
